Students from schools in the city are fighting multiple social problems all through last month. The VIBGYOR group of schools, launched the #StrikeOffPlastic campaign and are also raising funds to educate the girl child.
Students from all VIBGYOR school in mumbai have over 1029 donated old sarees and dupattas. the saree and dupattas will be sent to HSE ( Hello Save Earth Foundation ) where rural women will stitch them in to bags thus helping these women to generate some income and run their families. Five bags can be made from each saree and three from each dupattas.
The bags will be sent back to the schools where students will decorate the handcrafted eco-friendly bags and sell them in parent teacher meetings. The income generated from selling these bags will be utilised in educating the underprivileged girl child through NGOs.
